Solid Gold Local History

Solid Gold Local History paints a picture of what life was like in the Wycombe area in the 1960’s and 70’s by mining the unique archive resources of the Bucks Free Press back numbers at Wycombe Reference Library. Each week a specific year is featured with people and events that made the news locally, quirky happenings, how the Chairboys were doing, what films were showing at the cinemas in the Town and the Top 40 groups who played local gigs. Amazingly just about every big British group (with one notable exception!) played locally so that the musical soundtrack for the programme is truly the music that Wycombe was listening to in those magical year
